Happy New Year! We welcome the new year because it brings the hope of renewal and fresh starts. I hope I can help us all truly experience a new year in a new way.
New Year’s Eve falls on Sunday this year, but don’t be tempted to skip services. This Sunday, I’ll be sharing about what’s coming in 2018 and I’ll be bringing a message about how to lay a strong foundation for the new year. We’ll talk about how we increase our energy and sharpen our focus as we head into 2018. With energy and focus, we position ourselves in a much better place to allow God to change and transform us. At this service, I’ll be challenging us to adopt a new one word focus for 2018. I already have my word, which I’ll share that day.
And here’s a prayer that Chris Hamlin, our Worship Pastor, shared with me. What a great prayer to use as we begin a new year and seek to experience renewal… It is called “The Knot” Prayer:
Please untie the knots
that are in my mind,
my heart and my life.
Remove the have nots,
the can nots and the do nots
that I have in my mind.
Erase the will nots,
might nots that may find
a home in my heart.
Release me from the could nots,
would nots and
should nots that obstruct my life.
And most of all,
I ask that you remove from my mind,
my heart and my life all of the am nots
that I have allowed to hold me back,
especially the thought
that I am not good enough.
