View & Download the Bible Study Method
INSTRUCTIONS
Go around the room and ask each person to share what they are thankful for and what has caused them stress this week. This will become their prayer requests and praise reports for the week. Then, pray over the requests and for your time during the study. Be aware and sensitive that you may have some in your group that might not be ready or open to praying in the beginning.
After prayer, ask the group what they have discovered since the last time they met in regards to the scripture they studied the previous week. Ask if they shared their discovery with anyone.
Read the passage:
– Have someone from the group read the passage of scripture out loud slowly while everyone follows along in their Bible.
– Have someone else re-read the same passage from a different version of the Bible.
– Ask someone from the group to retell the passage in their own words. After the retelling of the passage, ask the group to fill-in or correct any part that the retelling might have missed.
Ask these questions for discovery:
– What happened in this passage?
– What does this passage tell us about God?
– What does this passage tell us about ourselves and others?
Your job as the facilitator is to help the people within your group discover who God is and what faith is about, by asking and re-asking these questions in different ways to help the group discover the biblical truths from the scripture.
There are two cautions and temptations to be aware of. First, be sure to allow your group to discover God and faith within the passage you are reading. While it is tempting, be cautious about going to additional scriptures. Try to stay with the passage you are looking at and discover the truth(s) there. Searching other scriptures has a place, but in this type of study, it actually reduces the effectiveness of the discovery focus. Second, trust the discovery system and as a leader, don’t be tempted to teach.
After answering the discovery questions, we come to the practical application part by completing this statement: “If this passage is true, I will live differently by _____.”
Ask each group member to identify someone they might be able to share what they discovered in the study today with. Encourage them to share it during the next week.
Close your group in prayer.

Our vision is to be a catalytic force to bless Southern Arizona and the world and all of our ministries are dedicated in accomplishing this vision. It is the passion and calling of our staff to carry out our vision and core values each and every day.
We are part of a group of churches often referred to as the “Independent Christian Church.” We have no formal connection to a denomination – hence the word “independent.” There are about 5,600 churches like us around the US, with more than 150 averaging over 1000 in attendance.
Mission: Loving people to Jesus & launching passionate difference makers.
Vision: is to be a catalytic force to bring God’s influence to Southern Arizona and strategic places in the world.
There is an ancient saying, “In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things love.” This reflects our heart and belief at Pantano Christian Church. We are a non-denominational church that seeks unity in Christ, based on the essential truths of Scripture while allowing for diversity, differences, and even disagreements over non-essential doctrines. Below are six statements that reflect our corporate essentials and upon which we base our unity in Christ. We all believe much more than these statements and we encourage those who are part of Pantano Christian Church to vigorously search the scriptures and discuss “non-essential” although important doctrines, while not making those views a test of fellowship. Therefore, we believe in and are committed with our whole being to…
The above statements do not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind and is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For the purpose of Pantano Christian Church’s faith, doctrine, practice, discipline, and policy our Elders are the final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
The following are core beliefs that shape who we are as a church community and define how we do ministry.
