The refreshed space will allow for more seating, better access for the handicapped, better flow with fewer bottlenecks when entering and exiting, and a blending of the courts into the auditorium that will allow for an improved experience for all who attend services and events.

“New and Improved” are words we often hear about our favorite products. Whether it is shampoo, toothpaste, cars, kitchens, or almost anything we see Amazon selling these days, there are times to make improvements. We have been improving our campus for the last decade and especially the last 3 years. We added solar, we adjusted to xeriscape landscaping around most of the campus, we have replaced carpet, painted, updated bathrooms replaced air conditioner units, and added a new Student Union.

We have addressed the needs of our students and kids first, but it’s hard to look past our carpet and pews any longer.

We have also been working on future funding to allow us to continue the maintenance of our facility that will hopefully allow us to repair and upgrade without borrowing money in the future. With all of the changes on campus, it has become even more obvious that our main auditorium has aged and needs attention. As is our priority, we have addressed the needs of our students and kids first, but it’s hard to look past our carpet and pews any longer.

In 1992, Pantano opened its new building at 29th and Houghton. What a great story and journey we have had in bringing hope to our city and our world. Now, in the summer of 2021, after almost 30 years of service, our auditorium is in need of an update. We are taking this opportunity to blend our Auditorium with the court seating spaces for better flow and feel. The main floor will be redone, replacing the slopes with stepped tiers, new seating, new carpet, a fresh coat of paint, and new lighting.

Common Questions

We looked at moving off-site but there are very few options that will accommodate our needs on the Eastside of town. So, we made the decision to move into Coop court, use a combination of bleacher seating and chairs, rent a stage, move some lights, and make services happen! We will add our live 1 PM service again if we need the space, and we will also use the volleyball court seating as an overflow room. To do this, we will be setting up an extra-large screen to improve the experience.

Barker Construction is estimating a 12-week timeline for the project.

Unfortunately, we did not have the plans completed and the permits pulled before we closed during Covid, and the timing for remaining closed during that time was uncertain. We had started the process but did not have final plans to submit for permits when we had to close. We were also focused on how to meet the needs of our church during a pandemic that no one could foresee its full impact.

When we refinanced our mortgage with Christian Financial Resources (CFR), we planned to borrow money for some needed property upgrades and this remodel. CFR offered us a package that has allowed us to replace all our worn-out air conditioners, replace aged roofs, resurface our parking lot, update bathrooms, repaint and recarpet, update our offices with new paint and carpet, as well as this remodel project. The good news is that our monthly payment has remained the same as it was with our old loan.

Absolutely! We will continue our ROOM FOR MORE giving options and we will use every penny that is given to pay down the loan. We will also continue to make extra payments on our loan as we have done for years in order to pay down the debt at a fast rate.
