Anxiety and depression can be hard to see right away if you don’t know what to look for, especially in children. This topic will help attendees to learn what signs to look out for in order to seek help before the depression and/or anxiety worsens and affects daily function.

Throughout life, we form beliefs about our appearance through comparisons to others, media portrayals of beauty standards, and messages that we receive about appearance, value, and belonging. As children begin to notice differences between themselves and others or consume media that portrays narrow standards of beauty, they are especially vulnerable to developing negative views about their bodies, which can lead to or exacerbate mental health issues. Join this session to learn about the development of body image, risk factors for body dissatisfaction, and ways that you can support children’s and adolescents’ development of a healthy body image.

Life is hard; setting our anchor is vital for survival. Who or what is your anchor? How do you become an anchor for those around you? When your anchor is set, life’s storms won’t wreck you, challenges won’t defeat you, roadblocks won’t stop you. Additionally, studies show that relationships are one of the best protective factors when it comes to healing from trauma. When our anchor line is strong and firmly attached, we can be a much needed life-line to others!
